Lowrance Reveal Hook 5 common questions.
- What transducer comes with Lowrance HOOK-5?
- The basic package includes the HDI Skimmer Transducer 83/200 HDI Transducer. This will provide the SplitShot feature that combines FishReveal Technology with High Frequency CHIRP and DownScan sonar. You can upgrade to a 50/200 kHz HDI transducer for deep water performance or the TripleShot transducer to access the SideScan functionality.
- Can you add maps to Lowrance Hook Reveal?
- Yes, you can load maps via an SD slot for products such as Navionics® Gold, Lake Insight™ and Nautic Insight™ HD and PRO cartography, also Jeppesen C-Map Max-N Wide charts and HotMaps® Premium and Fishing Hotspots® PRO.
- What is CHIRP sonar?
- It allows you to find fish, structure and the bottom with high resolution. It delivers the best views of fish even when they are schooling or close to the bottom. CHIRP produces the best clarity by continuously sweeping a predefined range of low, medium and high frequencies. This technology produces a more complete and integrated view of the bottom as well as fish in the water column.
- What is the difference between Lowrance SplitShot and TripleShot?
- This defines the type of transducer functionality. The “SplitShot” covers traditional sonar and identifies structure under the boat. This includes DownScan technology. “TripleShot” adds to that the SideScan imaging.
- What is Lowrance Downscan with FishReveal?
- To allow the viewing of fish and bottom structure easier, Lowrance created DownScan Imaging. It can generate photo like depictions of brush, rocks, trees, and other bottom structure.
- FishReveal™ takes it to the next level by combining these high-resolution images with the traditional sonar fish echo returns of CHIRP. Now its easier to see fish and separate them from everything else.
- What is SideScan?
- The TripleShot Transducer for the Hook 5 fish finder opens up a new world of vision for everyone. Perfect for searching large areas for fish-holding structure. SideScan produces visibility up to 600 feet on either side of your kayak. Now you can cover more water in less time, and view areas that are very shallow like under piers, docks or close to shore.
- What is the Lowrance Genesis Live?
- Genesis live is a real-time feature where the unit creates an overlay of higher resolution depth contour mappings based on live sonar soundings as you move along. Create your own map from real sonar data that you record with the online Insight Genesis™ map creation service and then view it from the unit’s memory card. It allows you to create more detailed high-resolution maps. Note: Only available when viewing Lowrance C-MAP chart source.
- Is the Lowrance Reveal Hook 5 fish finder waterproof?
- Yes, this unit is waterproof to IPX7 standards, the new Hook Reveal 5 series from Lowrance is a perfect fit for most kayak fishing applications
